EDISON

Klein first lived in the Skagit Valley in 1976, and returned in 1995 with her family living on a 32 acre farm near Edison. Recently she has taken New Trade Route to the small village nearby acting as a roving street peddler. She sits and does handwork while talking to people, inviting them to try on the clothes. She talks about the idea of transformation: making a Chanel inspired jacket from a cloth especially made for cleaning. The performance is about the role of artists, economy, selling things in a small, slow, way and making this out of that. The intimacy and pleasure in the direct exchange is a part of the experience.
